I was hiking in a pine forest today and saw a patch of about 10 of these. Being bright white and so large; they looked like beacons in the dark forest. I didn't have my camera so I took one home to photo. I think this is the same type as Skyl posted earlier. Not 100% sure what it is.

It didn't have the warty top though?
No, not warty but there was a lot of cottony vail remnants. The top was mostly smooth, small amounts of cottony bits.
